I have a trick for you!

My kids LOVE this magic trick! It was also a big hit when I taught in a classroom.

First, pass out five "Math Smart Cards. " Next, have a friend choose a number between 1-31 and then have your friend show you the cards that number is on. Last, add up the very first number on each card to figure out the "magic number." That's it! This trick amazes people every time I have used it.

Making Yummy Funny Bones

I found this recipe in Family Fun Magazine this week and had to try it out! Last night we made these simple and YUMMY Halloween treats. I just love that great sweet and salty combo!

First, press marshmallows on both ends of the pretzel sticks.

Next, melt white chocolate discs in the microwave and then dip in the pretzel sticks. Use a fork to remove them from the white chocolate.

Watch your kids gobble up these sweet treats!
Enjoy!

Why do leaves change colors?

Here is a photo from a recent road trip with my family. I appreciate the fall season so much up north since we hardly get an opportunity to view the leaves changing colors in south Florida. I find God's creation absolutely breath-taking.

A few years ago I had learned something fascinating about the vibrant colors of fall leaves. Did you know those beautiful, bright colors are the true colors of the leaves? The green chlorophyll covers up the colors of the leaves in the summer months. During autumn, the days get shorter and the trees begin to get ready for the winter when there will not be enough light or water for photosynthesis. The trees will rest and live off of the food they stored during the summer. When the trees stop making food, the green chlorophyll will disappear from their leaves. As the green color fades away, the leaves' true colors will appear. This also explains why the leaves do not change colors in warm areas.

This marvelous act of nature reminds me of scripture. No matter how good we are at covering up and hiding our flaws and sins from others, God always sees directly into our hearts where our true colors are revealed.

But everything can be tested by the light and thus be shown in its true colors.
Ephesians 5:13

The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.
1 Samuel 16:7

Happy fall precious friends,
